On the afternoon of November 2, 2018 JM Class No.2 successfully held “Practice Socialist Core Value, Become Legal Personnel in New Era” Theme Class Meeting, and guided classmates to practice socialist core value with 24 characters according to current situation and development characteristics of major. The theme class meeting was instructed by Class Teacher LI Dejia, hosted by Party Branch Secretary WANG Xingwen, and divided into four parts.
The first part was election of Class Committee members. The candidate team gave speech first. After two-month probation, five Class Committee members reviewed their work, and made introduction and self-examination on the working ability of student and working orientation of Class Committee. “There is no iron-made class cadre, but people who are dedicated to serve the class and students.” Through unanimous ballot, five students were elected to establish the Class Committee.
The second part was career life planning exchange. Students actively gave speech and exchange career planning under the background of law major. Some student pointed out the importance of internship and practical experience, and some student shared the career planning to combine bachelor major with law. At the same time, the Class Monitor proposed to share more career internship information to classmates, so as to help classmates make more suitable career choice.
To implement “diligence, morality, discernment, sincerity”, “patriotism, inspiration, truth, practice” and better help students clearly know “legal personnel in new era”, Class Teacher LI Dejia invited Lawyer SUN Jiajia, the partner of Weiheng Law Firm, to share his experience in law study and work as the guest. Lawyer SUN first pointed out the employment advantage of students not majoring in law and professional quality to be improved. In addition, Lawyer SUN also shared the ability and quality a professional lawyer should have, and emphasized the importance of legal retrieval ability and fast and precise case analysis ability under the background of big data in new era. At the same time, students had discussion on the professional ethnics in legal industry, and Lawyer SUN exhorted students to be honest and steady, abide by professional ethnics and stick to the bottom line. He provided profound suggestion and clear guidance to the study content and development direction of students.
In the last part, students and Lawyer SUN had Q&A about the cognition of legal vocational community, professional ethnics and professional quality of legal practitioner. On the selection of legal profession, Lawyer SUN shared that how to choose future career in legal vocational community is not the most important, the most important is to cultivate all-round professional ability and become a talent excellent enough. Only excellent talent can orientate in different career positions and do an excellent job. There is not a gap that cannot get over between different legal professions, you must make choice after finding career development space that fits you. Students had deeper cognition and thinking of legal personnel in new era and benefited a lot from this part.
At last, students expressed that they would become the legal personnel in new era and the new force to practice socialist core value as the graduate of law, and they would implement the socialist core value of “prosperity, democracy, civilization, harmony, freedom, equality, justice, rule of law, patriotism, dedication, integrity and friendship” in the improvement of academic quality, professional ability and legal practice, contribute to the great rejuvenation of Chinese nation, and everybody harvested a lot through this meeting. Teacher LI Dejia expected students to plan career life as soon as possible, emphasize on study of professional legal knowledge and strengthen professional ethnics. Professional ethnics is the foundation of career development, and a good foundation would help achieve greater development in future study and work. Teacher LI Dejia also emphasize the importance of professional legal knowledge and practical skill, which should be the training focus during the postgraduate period. She expected everybody to find the way during the postgraduate period, plan in advance and wish everybody a prosperous future. At last, Teacher LI proposed to conduct diversified class meetings according to the requirement, so as to enrich the school life and solve the worry in future career. The theme class meeting came to the end in the warm applause.
